Little Bear Goes Camping!

Plus, McD's Goat's Got to Eat Better!

The author knows kids at this particular age want to do things on their own and/or with close friends, and having ones own private tent space, alone or with pals, does the trick. It's a special place.

  1) The Little Bear story creates a desire for kids to want to go camping in their own backyard! The book is for Beginning Reader's and uses simple sentence structure. This would be a fun book for kids to read aloud, while camping themselves like the animals in the story.

    2) The Goat story has a silly nature, and a message that speaks loud and clear in getting kids, (pun intended) to eat better. I noticed it took 4 adults to pull it together, probably because McDonalds has enough money making for larger collaborations. The illustrations are terrifically wonky, which kids enjoy. Love the corner bite out of the book effect for book design, it says "Goat's been here!

Please comment; as just looking at this bear yawning, is affecting me right now!  Zzzzz

Spiders! Arachnid Science!

G. Gibson Picture Book w/Extra Cartoon Fun!

Sign Up for Free Color Page of Miss Muffet!?!

I think this book is great for kids age 4-8. It's tame for those who get the hebbie-geebies from spiders. I wanted to introduce this book even if it's been out for awhile because it's good science. Since it's October 1st and 30 days until Halloween, I thought it would be well aligned with this months festivities.

AND

Mr. Spider at Your Service ready to give you a Boo!

This is the little character that I've incorporated into the storyline for more fun and excitement for the little ones. Gail Gibson is very well known as a children's book writer. I have many of her books read aloud and she has many. I believe she's been writing for a long time for kids.

Here is an extra spider story attached to the video, and yes Mrs. Small sings it for you, so you need to watch and listen for yourself on the video above.

   " Little Miss Muffet,

Sat on a tuffet,

Eating her curds and whey,

When along came a Spider,

And sat down beside her,

And scared Little Miss Muffet away..."

Native American Poetic Science For the Youth

A Book that's Spiritually Uplifting ...

Metaphors Using Earthly Attributes

    Everyone's Voice Matters!

Read Aloud

I'm glad to see a picture-book version of what happens in the news. This book explains in a light and metaphoric way the oil pipeline protests in '2020 on Native Lands. Teachers, moms, dads, can explain further, if need be, in their own words what the book represents if wanting to dig a little deeper into your Childs understanding.

I've noticed more and more children's book topics are presenting current events of what's going on in the world today and I think this particular book can be a beneficial tool when teaching the subject of Freedom of Speech and how a persons voice matters. Children are to know that people have the right to express themselves in a respectful, peaceful and lawful way.

Note to Teachers: Look for safe activism news about the pipelines for children so they get a broader understanding. Here's a link pertaining to youth activism.

Their dog, Ink Spot the Dalmatian, finds them and away they must sort from Large-Medium-Small to Circle-Triangle-Square, but maybe they should go by Color? The kids will enjoy sorting for themselves and learn something doing it.  I give this book 4 stars out of 5.

Picture Book for the Little One's

This is a MathStart picture book story by Stuart J. Murphy, illustrated by Jon Buller, (Level 3). Two frogs have a friendly competition jumping from place to place and need to do some math along the way, namely counting hops. It's an equation building book that incorporates visual math into the story. I personally love all th MathStart series and have placed a few in my read aloud channel @TumpskyandMrsSmall under Math/Science Playlist. Mrs. Small works through the basics of the equation explaining in a simplistic way visually and verbally. It's a great resource for teachers to use for classroom and other learning set-ups.

You Can Make Math Out Of Anything, Even Carnival Animals!

Adding and Subtracting Age 3-6

This creative book, "Animals on Board," by Stuart Murphy, brings a certain ease toward math as it brings an element of fun into the story. It's a great way to teach children that there is math in everything you see and do.

I tried to incorporate background sounds in this video to give it more motion, even though it moves very well by itself. This is one of my favorite productions that I have created.

FYI, The author also does several math, and science books for this age and older. See these as well on @TumpskyandMrsSmall:

Leonardo da Vinci in Cartoon Comic Form?

I Learned Some Facts I Didn't Know

In this picture book I was happily surprised to discover a unique way of keeping kids interested. The book blends history with visual, funny toon imagery into a perfect amount of fun and laughter. The title of the book is, "I am Leonardo da Vinci," by Brad Meltzer, illustrations by Christopher Eliopoulos and is a smart, fun, and inspirational book. The Cartoon characters have a period piece charm to match the day and age of Italy during that era, namely the Renaissance! The kids will be learning some history and having some fun doing it. What more could you ask for?

A great way to help children learn history!

Pointing Parents toward Kid Coding; Fun to fill the Day!

 Coding Site for Kids

As I am a teacher; and love the fact that the child in me is still learning, I came upon this easy coding site called; Grasshopper! It's from Google! I love Google!

The first thing to check out is the Fundamentals.

Fundamentals means, let's start at the beginning. The site easily walks you through it.  As you progress, you earn Congratulations! when you succeed. They take baby steps for incremental learning. It's slow and steady and something not to fear.

The first thing I made was a flag; just three colors, but the placement is what your learning, and by using Your Keys (see below) they have as choices that make it easy to comprehend. As a bonus; they give you hints if you mess up so it's easy to backtrack and fix.  Hmm? Where have I heard that before, "you learn more by your mistakes  than your successes." Kids will figure this out easier than us adults for sure.

Here is the flag that starts you off in Fundamentals;

Your coding gets more refined as you go, and they teach you little coding hints! "My, I think I might have to keep going and learn more!" Such a positive and entertaining site.

3 Different Dexterity Games for Simple Indoor Fun! FamilyTime!

 "Bungle, Paper Plane, Clothespin"

Kids 1-2-3 Games! Easy & Fun!

When I was young I was very fortunate to have a creative family. We would come up with easy to make games that would keep us busy making and playing them. I'm not sure Bungle was named Bungle back then but I liked the sound of it so I'm sticking with it. (Click on the picture to watch a 4-minute video on how it all pieces together and how you play it).

The popsicle stick physics can be a challenge for the younger ones who might need some help. Bungle is most appropriate for ages seven and up. The other two games are the easiest and take less effort to get started. If you don't have clothespins you can easily substitute other basic items to use instead, ie; coins.

Kids are great at coming up with new games. Encourage them to do so. If the house gets a little messy set a time for a 5-minute clean-up at intervals so it doesn't get to be hazardous. You can also make a game out of cleaning up. Gathering and clean-up games that are timed can be a lot of fun and making things fun is the idea.

I must do a brainstorm with my thoughts and to try and remember all the games we played. More game episodes to come in future episodes.

What Do You See? -:- One We All Know & Love! Includes Coloring🏳️‍🌈 Pages!

"Brown Bear, Brown Bear

What Do You See?"

Free 🏳️‍🌈Coloring Pages! Below

By Martin, Jr.
Pictures by Eric Carle

Simplicity and Basic Shapes all come together to delight our children in this special picture book by Martin Jr, and Eric Carle. This is the 1983 printing published by Henry Holt and Company, Inc. The first printing was in 1967.

Color Pages Below

"The imperfect, child-like art is so perfect, it feels like some wise genius child artist (Eric Carle) let out his relatable inner-child for the rest of us to adore."  ISBN: 0-8050-0201-4

https://youtu.be/X0Iv-tZqW3E

There are several printed versions of this picture book story, all slightly different images from the original 1967 book. I would have been a seven-year-old but I don't remember this book when I was a child growing up. I do however remember buying this for my children, way before I was considering having them. That is how much we think ahead, us mothers who know when something is a winner.

The book has some really wonderful reviews and is classified as age-appropriate for the 6 month - 2 year age group. The simplicity of its title, the childlike art, the chanting ability add to its popularity. The vibrant colors grab the interest of toddlers. The sing-song rhythm and the use of repeated words build a musical texture easy to comprehend. The page-turning curiosity as to what the next animal will see creates a desire to know what these animals are up to.

What is not to love, especially when it also includes a 'Mommy' image subconsciously giving approval of the pages presented. The book is a winner as it brings together images of children of many ethnicities. The last page joins everyone into a universal recap of the whole book and what the animals see. It is a positive, rhythmic, and enjoyable effort, a brilliant work of art. I know in 2020 there are a number of repeat ideas of this same book, but something about the original product holds fast.

Alphabet Sign Language A-Z

Encourage Kids to Learn to Sign Their ABC's!

The Love of Miming the Hand Letters!

I have been teaching my Preschool Montessori children how to 'Sign the Alphabet' and they are having great fun wanting to learn. The younger 2-year-olds don't quite get it, but they start seeing what the older kids are doing and find it interesting. We are only up to the letter Ee, but now when we sing the alphabet, the hand automatically goes up. The kids love copying the teacher's hands as we are having fun learning.

Here is a picture of the hand signs for your convenience.

Have the children start signing simple words; or the theme of your curriculum say if you might be learning about pets.
